PRJ98: Circular Relationship Error When Linking Tasks (234297)

In Microsoft Project 98, when you link tasks, you may receive the following error message:
No Calculations can be performed at this time.
There is a circular relationship in task <n><Task Name> of "<Project Name>". The successors of this task refer back to this task or its predecessors, causing a circular reference.
To remove the link that is causing the circular reference, select the two tasks that are causing the circular link, and then click Unlink Tasks on the Standard Toolbar.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you create a circular relationship between either two inserted projects or an inserted project and task.
WORKAROUND
To remove a circular relationship, follow these steps:
- Select the two tasks that are causing the circular relationship.
- On the Edit menu, click Unlink Tasks.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
