Event Keycode Does Not Return Proper Value for ARROW Keys (233280)

SYMPTOMS

A Web page that contains a Window.event.keyCode command may not return the proper value when you press the UP or DOWN ARROW key.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Mshtml.dll file contains code that cancels the UP and DOWN ARROW key events when the keyboard focus in on an HTML Input box.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Internet Explorer service pack that contains this hotfix.
