SYMPTOMS

When you view Device Manager after you install Windows 98 Second Edition, your Analog Devices AD1816 SoundPort Controller may have a red X through the device icon. Also, you may not be able to hear sound from your computer.

CAUSE

This issue can occur because Windows 98 Second Edition does not include device drivers for the Analog Devices AD1816 SoundPort Controller.

RESOLUTION
