SYMPTOMS

When a screen saver is active, pressing SPACEBAR may not cancel the screen saver.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Start menu is opened before the screen saver activates. When this occurs, pressing SPACEBAR causes the Start menu to overlay the screen saver, and the screen saver is not canceled.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
