SYMPTOMS

All network clients may receive the following broadcast message when a client attempts to gain access to a folder representing a virtual volume on a multiple CD-ROM changer on your computer running Windows NT that has Microsoft File and Print Services for NetWare (FPNW) already installed.
Volume servername is out of disk space.

RESOLUTION

Windows NT Server or Workstation 4.0

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or the individual software update. For information on obtaining the latest service pack, please go to:

After you apply the update, create two new registry values to correct this issue:
  1. Run Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  2. Locate the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\FPNW\Parameters
    						
  3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry values:
          Value Name: DiskFullCriteria
          Data Type : REG_DWORD
          Data      : 0
    
          Value Name: LowVolumeThreshold
          Data Type : REG_DWORD
          Data      : 0
    					
  4. Quit Registry Editor.
  5. Restart the computer for the registry changes to take effect.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT Server version 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 6.
