SYMPTOMS

Sygate by Sybergen Networks, Inc. is an Internet connection sharing program. In this program, you can choose which network adapter to use for your internal and external connections. If you perform a "clean" installation of Windows 98 Second Edition on a computer containing an Intel Pro 10/100b network adapter, you cannot select your network adapter in Sygate.

CAUSE

There is an incompatibility with Windows 98 Second Edition, the Intel Pro 10/100b drivers, and Sygate.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, uninstall and then reinstall Sygate to detect the network adapter. The program should then work correctly.
