SUMMARY

In Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, SMTP and X.400 are the default e-mail proxy generators; they are an integral part of the system and cannot be disabled.

The Lotus cc:Mail, Novell GroupWise, Lotus Notes, and Microsoft Mail address generators are included with the Exchange 2000 installation, however, they are not enabled by default. Use the steps below to enable them.
  1. Start Exchange System Manager. To do so, click Start, point to Programs, and then click Microsoft Exchange.
  2. Expand the Recipients container, and then click the Recipients Policies object.
  3. In the left pane, double-click the default policy.
  4. Click the E-mail Address Policy tab, and click to select the cc:Mail Address Generator and MS Mail Address Generator check boxes.
  5. Click Yes when you are prompted to add this address type to existing users.
The new e-mail addresses will be applied to the directory the next time the Recipient Update service is run.
