SUMMARY

When you select the Auto-Keyboard Switching feature, the keyboard language and font change to the language of the text where the insertion point is placed. When Auto-Keyboard Switching is not selected, only the font changes.

Word 2000 gives you the ability to turn on or turn off this feature. In earlier versions of Word, the feature was turned on by default, and there was no option for the user to turn it off.

How to Turn On Auto-Keyboard Switching

To turn on Auto-Keyboard Switching, follow these steps:
  1. Start Word. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Edit tab.
  3. Click to select the Auto-Keyboard Switching check box.

How to Turn Off Auto-Keyboard Switching

To turn off Auto-Keyboard Switching, follow these steps:
  1. Start Word 2000. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Edit tab.
  3. Click to clear the Auto-Keyboard Switching check box.
NOTE: The Auto-Keyboard Switching option is available only when more than one keyboard layout is installed.
