MapPoint 2000: Zooms In Unexpectedly on an Enclosed Box (231538)

SYMPTOMS

When you copy graphics or export data from inside an enclosed box in Microsoft MapPoint 2000, the program may unexpectedly zoom in on the enclosed box.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if either of the following conditions is true:
  • Your pointing device is configured to double-click when you left-click.

  • You right-click inside the enclosed box, and then double-click Copy or Export to Excel.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Copy Graphics Inside the Enclosed Box

To do this:
  1. Configure your pointing device to single-click when you left-click.

    NOTE: If you are using the Microsoft IntelliPoint software, follow these steps.
    1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Mouse.
    3. On the StepSavers tab, under ClickSaver, click to clear the Single-click where you normally double-click check box.
    4. Click OK, and then close Control Panel.
  2. Right-click inside the enclosed box, and then click Copy.

Export Data from the Enclosed Box

To do this:
  1. Configure your pointing device to single-click when you left-click.

    NOTE: If you are using the Microsoft IntelliPoint software, follow these steps.
    1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Mouse.
    3. On the StepSavers tab, under ClickSaver, click to clear the Single-click where you normally double-click check box.
    4. Click OK, and then close Control Panel.
  2. Right-click inside the enclosed box, and then click Export to Excel.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft MapPoint 2000.
