SYMPTOMS

When you reinstall Windows 98 Second Edition on an Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) host computer, ICS may not function correctly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve the issue, uninstall, and then reinstall the ICS tool. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  2. On the Windows Setup tab, double-click Internet Tools.
  3. Click to clear the Internet Connection Sharing check box, and then click OK.
  4. Click OK, and then restart the computer when you are prompted.
  5. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  6. On the Windows Setup tab, double-click Internet Tools.
  7. Click to select the Internet Connection Sharing check box, and then click OK.
  8. Click OK, and then follow the instructions on your screen to complete the ICS Setup wizard.
