Links LS 99: Links LS 99 Does Not Recognize Courses from Earlier Versions of Links LS (230352)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use courses in Links LS 1999 edition that you converted in Links LS 1997 edition or Links LS 1998 edition, Links LS 99 may not recognize the earlier converted courses.

Links LS 99 recognizes the courses that are included with Links LS 97 and Links LS 98.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, delete the converted courses that Links LS 99 does not recognize, and then reinstall the earlier courses that you want from the original media. To do this:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click MS-DOS Prompt.
  2. Type the following lines at the command prompt, pressing ENTER after you type each line

    drive:
    cd \progra~1\linksls99\
    del course.crx
    exit

    where drive is drive letter of the hard disk on which Microsoft Windows is installed, and course is the name of the course that you want to install.

    NOTE: These commands assume that you installed Links LS 99 in the default folder.

    By default, Links LS 99 is installed in the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Linksls99

  3. Start Links LS 99.
  4. On the Links LS 99 main screen, click Options, and then click Links 386 Courses.
  5. Insert the CD-ROM that contains the earlier course that you want to install.
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the course.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6 for each course that you want to install.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Links LS 1999 Edition.
