OL98: Message Sent From Outlook Goes to Netscape Outbox (230274)

SYMPTOMS

When you have Netscape Communicator installed and you attempt to send e-mail from Outlook, the mail goes to Netscape Messenger's Outbox instead of being sent from Outlook. This can happen even if Outlook is selected as the default mail client.

CAUSE

The "Use Netscape Messenger from MAPI-based applications" option is selected in Netscape Communicator.

RESOLUTION

In Netscape Communicator, click to clear the check box next to Use Netscape Messenger from MAPI-based applications.

Netscape Communicator ignores the Microsoft Internet Explorer default mail setting. To turn off Netscape Messenger as the default mail program, follow these steps:
  1. Quit all programs.
  2. Start Netscape Communicator (or Netscape Navigator).
  3. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
  4. Under Category, expand the Mail & Newsgroups selection, and then click Mail Server.
  5. Click More Options.
  6. Click to clear the Use Netscape Messenger from MAPI-based applications check box, and then click OK.
For Netscape Communicator 4.5:
  1. Quit all programs.
  2. Start Netscape Communicator.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
  4. Under Category, click Mail & Newsgroups, clear the Use Netscape Messenger from MAPI-based applications check box, and then click OK.
