BUG: Recordset DTC Returns No Data After Installing Internet Explorer 5 (230047)

SYMPTOMS

When you use a Recordset Design-Time Control (DTC), no data is returned after installing
Internet Explorer 5.

RESOLUTION

The workaround is to run the file "Handunsf.reg" from the C:\Program files\Common files\System\Msadc folder and then reboot.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

From a clean Windows NT 4 machine, perform the following steps:
  1. Install Windows NT4 Service Pack 4.
  2. Install Internet Explorer 5.
  3. Install both client and server Visual InterDev 6.0 components.
  4. Create a new Web project with Visual InterDev.
  5. Add a data connection to the project.
  6. Add an HTML page to the project.
  7. Add a Recordset DTC to the HTML page.
  8. Add a Textbox DTC to the page and bind it to the Recordset.
  9. Browse the HTML page.
No data is returned
