This article was previously published under Q230008 SYMPTOMS
While you are playing a multiplayer game of Links LS 1999 Edition,
your connection to the Internet may be unexpectedly terminated.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if your Internet service provider (ISP) is
America Online (AOL).
This behavior can occur because AOL uses a timer to automatically
disconnect you from the Internet if no activity is detected within
a given amount of time. This timer program can mistake multiplayer
gaming for an idle connection and terminate your connection while
you are playing a multiplayer game.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, you can download and install one of several
shareware programs available on the Internet that prevent the AOL timer
program from terminating your connection.
