NvRunCmd Passes Wrong Data When Certain Programs Are Started (229719)

SYMPTOMS

The NvRunCmd Service may pass incorrect data to the Display session when certain applications are started. The data may either be truncated or mixed up with the output of a previous command.

CAUSE

When an application is started that sends NULL Bytes in the data to be displayed, the NvRunCmd Service only sends data up to the first occurrence of a NULL byte.

RESOLUTION

SNA Server 4.0

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft SNA Server, versions 3.0, 3.0SP1, 3.0SP2, 3.0SP3, 4.0, 4.0SP1, 4.0SP2.. This problem was first corrected in SNA Server version 3.0 Service Pack 4 and SNA Server version 4.0 Service Pack 3.

MORE INFORMATION

After you apply the update, NvRunCmd will send all data to the host, including any NULLs in the data stream.
