When you click System Information on the Help menu in any Office program, system information is not displayed, or you receive the following error in Microsoft Outlook:
Can't find the system information.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when the file Msinfo32.exe is missing from the MSInfo folder.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, copy the contents of the Msinfo folder from the Office 2000 CD to your computer. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Office 2000 CD, locate the folder:
\Pfiles\Common\Msshared\Msinfo
- Copy the contents of the Msinfo folder on the CD to the Msinfo folder on your hard disk drive. The default location is:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Msinfo
- If prompted, replace any files in the Msinfo folder.
NOTE: Reinstall or Repair will not replace this file and the Windows Installer will not automatically replace it.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
