SYMPTOMS

When you try to start Cool Edit Pro version 1.1 after upgrading from Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98 to Windows 98 Second Edition, you may receive the following error message:
This system has not been configured correctly to run Cool Edit Pro. Please run Setup again.

CAUSE

This issue can occur because Cool Edit Pro version 1.1 does not correctly recognize the Windows 98 Second Edition-specific information in the registry.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, reinstall Cool Edit Pro version 1.1.
