SYMPTOMS

When you use Netscape Internet Essentials Deluxe version 4.5 to set up account information, you may receive the following error message:
Account Setup - Unable to create RNA phone book entry.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if your Internet Service Provider (ISP) requires a forward slash character ("/") in the User Name field of your Dial-Up Networking (DUN) connection. For example:

MSN/username

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact Netscape to inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue.

To work around this issue, manually create a DUN connection to your ISP:
  1. Double-click My Computer, double-click Dial-Up Networking, and then double-click Make New Connection.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish creating your DUN connection.
  3. Set up your account information in Internet Essentials Deluxe.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this behavior is not caused by a problem in Windows 98, but may be caused by design changes in Windows 98. For more information about resolving this issue, contact the program's manufacturer.
