No Wave Audio Is Played with Ensoniq Audio PCI Sound Card (229174)

SYMPTOMS

When you are using an Ensoniq Audio PCI sound card, wave (.wav) files may not be played audibly, even though MIDI files can be heard.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the preferred audio playback device is set to "Use any device."

RESOLUTION

To hear wave file playback using the Ensoniq Audio PCI sound card:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Multimedia.
  3. Click the Audio tab.
  4. In the Playback section, click Ensoniq in the Preferred Device box.
  5. Click OK.
