SIS Does Not Operate on Files Located in Mount Points or Junctions (228906)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server
This article was previously published under Q228906 SUMMARY
When a volume that contains Remote Installation Server (RIS) images also contains a mount point or junction to another folder, the Single Instance Store feature (SIS) does not operate on the duplicate files in the junction or mount point. When the volume nears capacity and a new image needs to be stored, you can create a mount point or junction that links it to another local volume that has sufficient free space.
SIS is installed with RIS to move duplicate files to a common folder (SIS Common Store), while referring the files to this location to decrease storage requirements.
