SYMPTOMS

In any Office program, the version number displayed in About Microsoft program may be different than the version number displayed for that program in either Microsoft System Information (MSInfo), or from a Microsoft Visual Basic macro.

For example, Microsoft Excel displays version number 2720 in About Microsoft Excel on the Help menu, and version number 2719 in MSInfo or from a Visual Basic macro.

RESOLUTION

The correct version number is the number displayed in MSInfo or from a Visual Basic macro.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
