OL2000: Error Message "You cannot sort by this field" in Journal (228505)

SYMPTOMS

When viewing the Journal folder with the Entry List view, if you click the Contact column header to sort the journal entries by Contact, you receive the following message:
You cannot sort by this field.

RESOLUTION

You can work around this problem by grouping the view by contact instead of sorting by contact. Right-click the Contacts column header, and then click Group by this field.

To create a custom view grouped by contact:
  1. On the View menu, point to Current View, and then click Define Views.
  2. Click New.
  3. In the Name of new view box, type Group by Contacts. In the Type of view list, click Table, and then click OK.
  4. Click Group By, and in the Group items by list, click Contact.
  5. Click OK, OK, and Close.
