This article describes how to use the slide show feature in Outlook Express.

When you receive an e-mail message in Microsoft Outlook Express that contains multiple graphic files, you can view the graphic files with the slide show feature.

When you open an e-mail message that contains multiple graphics, you can see the Outlook Express Picture Slide-Show option and the PREVIOUS, PLAY, and NEXT buttons.


The default setting for this feature is not enabled in Outlook Express. To enable this feature, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Read tab, click to select the Show Multiple Pictures as a Slide-show check box, and then click OK.
When you are viewing graphics using the slide show feature, the following information about the graphics is displayed:
  • The graphic image.
  • The name of the file.
  • The number of the graphic in the slide show and the total number of graphics. For example: Picture: 1 of 5.
NOTE: This feature is not available in Microsoft Outlook Express 5.0.
