SYMPTOMS

When you install Windows 2000 on a computer with an integrated video adapter, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
  • You may be unable to change your display settings to any resolution higher than 640 by 480 pixels and 16 colors in Display Properties.
  • Your video adapter may not be listed in Device Manager.
  • Running the Add New Hardware Wizard may not detect your video adapter.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the integrated video adapter is unsupported in Windows 2000 or is disabled in your computer Basic Input/Output System (BIOS).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method:

Your Video Adapter Is Disabled in the BIOS

If you video adapter is disabled in the BIOS, enable it. For information about how to do so, contact the manufacturer of your computer or video adapter, or view the documentation included with your computer or video adapter.

Your Integrated Video Adapter Is Unsupported in Windows 2000
