Office Shortcut Toolbars Are Not Displaying Accessories Subfolders Found in the Start Menu (228390)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional

This article was previously published under Q228390

SYMPTOMS

When you customize the Office toolbar to have the Accessories programs appear as toolbar icons and the subfolders appear as folder icons, you may find that some of the subfolder items are missing from the customized Office toolbar.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Merged Folders feature behaves differently in Microsoft Office from when it is building menus. This feature builds some menu items from the all users folder, and some items from the per user folder, and merges them together into one menu. However, when Microsoft Office uses this feature, only one of these two folders is displayed when the toolbar is built.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

The following folders might not appear on the customized Microsoft Office toolbar:
  • Accessibility
  • Communication
  • Entertainment
  • System Tools
  • Games

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. In Windows 2000, install Office 95, Office 97 or Office 2000.
  2. Right-click on the toolbar, and then click Customize.
  3. Click Toolbars, and then click to select the Accessories check box.
  4. Click OK.
Some subfolder icons do not appear.
