When you connect a Universal Serial Bus (USB) device into your computer while it is in Standby mode, your computer remains in Standby mode.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because this functionality is not supported in Windows 2000.
RESOLUTION
To prevent this behavior, resume your computer from Standby mode before adding a USB device.
