PersonaNonGrata WINS Servers May Be Added as Replication Partners Without Warning (228078)

SYMPTOMS

When you add a Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) server as a WINS replication partner in Wins Manager that has a PersonaNonGrata status, you do not receive a warning message that this WINS server is not a valid WINS replication partner. Also, when you click Replicate Now in the Replication Partners dialog box, you are not warned that the WINS replication partner list contains an invalid WINS server.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

The Windows NT registry value PersonaNonGrata permits an administrator to specify the Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) addresses of WINS servers that own unwanted records that should not be replicated among WINS servers.
