This article describes how the Use transition effects for menus and tooltips feature works in Windows 2000. When you enable the Fade effect or Scroll effect feature in Windows 2000, the transition effect works when you click Start and when you open the next menu you want. Subsequent menus you open do not exhibit the transition effect. Each time you click Start, the transition effect works on the Start menu and the next menu you open.

Enabling the Use Transition Effects for Menus and Tooltips Feature

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Display, and then click the Effectstab.
3. Click to select the Use transition effects for menus and tooltips check box, click Fade effect or Scroll effect, and then click OK.
