Black Lines Appear When Printing from Publisher 2000 to a PostScript Printer in Windows 2000 (227869)

In Microsoft Windows 2000, when you send print instructions requesting a job with separate colors from Microsoft Publisher 2000 to a PostScript printer, black lines may appear in the print job in the areas where colors are supposed to be.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when using a PostScript printer residing on a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 server. By default, the PostScript printer uses the Windows NT 4.0 print driver.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, install the PostScript5 print driver, which works with Windows 2000.

Publisher 2000 prints color-separated print jobs by setting black lines to overprint. The lines are printed on the black plate but are not overprinted on any of the other color plates. To achieve this effect, black lines are assigned to hollow brushes and pens when printing to non-black plates. When printing from Windows 2000 to PostScript printers that use the PostScript print driver for Windows NT 4.0, these hollow pens and brushes are rendered when they should not be.
