My Documents Folder Not Mapped to Individual User's Profile (227867)

After you upgrade from Microsoft Windows 98 to Windows 2000, the My Documents folder may be mapped to a common C:\My Documents folder instead of a user's specific folder at C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents.
CAUSE
When you upgrade from Windows 98, certain multiple-user profile settings can cause the My Documents folder to be mapped to a common folder.
RESOLUTION
You can change the location of the My Documents shell folder on a per-user basis:
- Right-click the My Documents folder on the desktop, and then click Properties.
- On the Target tab, click Move.
- Click the appropriate folder location for the My Documents folder, click OK, and then click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
