SYMPTOMS

When you try to save a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) file in Lotus SmartSuite Millennium, one of the following issues can occur:
  • You receive the following error message:
Unable to print. Select printer and try again, check that the Windows printer driver file is not damaged.
  • The computer stops responding after the printer icon appears on the taskbar.
  • The file appears to be saved, but when you open the HTML file in Internet Explorer, nothing is displayed.
  • The printer prints out pages from your default that do not contain useful information.
This mainly occurs using Lotus 1-2-3, FastSite, Approach, and after a migrating to Windows 2000.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Allegis Net-It Now printer driver Netitdrv.dll does not migrate to Windows 2000 and is not reported as incompatible.

When you install Allegis Net-It Now on Windows 2000 through Lotus SmartSuite Millennium, executing conversion to HTML does not work. Allegis Net-It Now appears to install a printer driver and queue to do the conversion, a feature that fails.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, do one of the following:
  • In the properties of the selected files, click HTML. When selected, the file is displayed correctly in SmartSuite and Explorer.
  • Contact Lotus Corporation to learn of new ways to convert HTML files without using Allegis Net-It Now.
  • Click *.htm or *.html in the File Type list instead of saving the file as a Java Document Management (jDoc).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

Allegis reports that they have discontinued Net-It Now. For more information about Net-It Now, click the following Web site: If you reinstall the Allegis Net-It Now drivers before saving an HTML file, the Web page is saved but the program stops responding and you can no longer access the program. You may need to press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart your computer.
