When you run Microsoft Office 2000 Setup, you may receive the following message:
Microsoft Office 2000 has been advertised on your computer by the system administrator. To install Microsoft Office 2000, run Setup with the /q or /qb command-line option. Contact your system administrator for more information.
When you click OK to the alert, you receive the following error message:
Installation ended prematurely because of an error.
CAUSE
You receive this error message if the following conditions are true: - Your computer is running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 or Microsoft Windows 2000.
-and-
- You are logged on as a non-administrative user.
-and-
- One of the following is true:
- Your system administrator first ran Office 2000 Setup by using a command line similar to Setup /jm.
-or-
- Your system administrator applied a system policy that sets the AlwaysInstallElevated policy.
RESOLUTION
In any of the situations described in the "Cause" section of this article, you are prompted to run Setup by using either the /q switch or the /qb switch. For example, you can use a command line similar to the following:
However, you can also run Setup successfully by using the /qn combination, which is not mentioned in the message. NOTE: You receive the first message described in the "Symptoms" section of this article if you try to use the /qr switch combination.
