HP 2000C OEM Windows NT 4.0 Drivers Do Not Work in Windows 2000 (227656)

SYMPTOMS

If you install the Hewlett-Packard (HP) 2000C printer driver for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 in Windows 2000, you may not be able to view the printer's properties. When you try to view the printer's properties, you may receive the following error message:
Device settings cannot be displayed. The driver for the specified printer is not installed. Only spooler properties will be displayed. Do you want to install the driver now?
Or, you may receive an "Access violation" error message.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are using a Hewlett-Packard printer driver for Windows NT 4.0 in Windows 2000. Many of the HP Windows NT 4.0 drivers are not compatible with Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact the printer manufacturer to inquire about obtaining updated drivers for Windows 2000.
