This article was previously published under Q227559 SYMPTOMS
After you upgrade your computer from Microsoft Windows 98 to Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 or Microsoft Windows 2000, you may receive the following error messages from Network Associates' First Aid 98 program:
Windows Guardian: Fawgrd32.exe - DLL Initialization Failed
Initialization of the dynamic link library C:\HelpSpot\FATRC32.DLL failed. The process is terminating abnormally.
Crash Protector: FA_GD32.exe - DLL Initialization Failed
Initialization of the dynamic link library C:\HelpSpot\FA_SAV32.DLL failed. The process is terminating abnormally.
Warning
The operating system seems to be upgraded from Windows 95 to Windows 98 or vice versa. The old snapshots will not be usable in the new operating system due to the registry differences. Hence deleting all the existing snapshots.
VRTFIXD.VXD not found
FA_SAV32.DLL is not found
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the First Aid 98 program is not compatible with Windows NT or Windows 2000. The Windows NT upgrade report does not identify Windows Guardian as incompatible and does not remove it from the Start menu.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
