Automatic Gain Control Is Not Available in NetMeeting (227335)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to configure Microsoft NetMeeting to use the automatic gain control or microphone boost features of your sound card, you may be unable to do so.

CAUSE

This problem can occur because NetMeeting may not correctly detect the automatic gain control or microphone boost features of your sound card.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, upgrade to NetMeeting version 3.01 or later. For information about how to do so, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

To work around this problem, enable these features by using the Volume Control tool on the taskbar:
  1. On the taskbar, double-click Volume Control.
  2. On the Options menu, click Advanced Controls, and then click Properties on the Options menu.
  3. Click Recording, and then click OK.
  4. In the Recording Control box, click Advanced.
  5. In the Advanced Controls for Recording Control box, click to select either the Automatic Gain Control check box or the Microphone Boost check box, and then click Close.
  6. Quit the Volume Control tool.
