Setup Stops While Installing Windows 2000 on IBM Shark II (227300)

SYMPTOMS

When you are installing Windows 2000 on an IBM ThinkPad "Shark II" 770E computer, Setup may stop with a "Stop 7a" error message on a blue screen.

CAUSE

There is a known issue with the BIOS contained in these computers.

RESOLUTION

IBM is currently working on a BIOS update. For additional information, please contact IBM.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
