Generic Icons on Quick Launch Toolbar After Uninstalling SP2 (227039)

After you uninstall Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2, the icons on the Quick Launch toolbar may have changed from product-specific icons to generic icons, and clicking or double-clicking the icons may not start the appropriate program.
CAUSE
This problem can occur after uninstalling Microsoft Internet Explorer
4.01 Service Pack 2 on a Microsoft Windows 98-based computer with multiple user accounts. When you do so, the path value may be missing from the following registry key when a new user logs on:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\IE4\Setup
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, reinstall Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2.
