SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to install Greetings 99 or Home Publishing 99, you may receive the following error message:
Mhpreg.dll was unable to register itself in the System Registry.
RESOLUTION
The Oleaut32.dll file is a core component of Microsoft Internet Explorer. To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method for your version of Internet Explorer.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1
- Quit all running programs.
- Insert the Greetings 99 or Home Publishing 99 Disk 1 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key when you insert the CD-ROM to prevent Setup from starting automatically.
- Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
- In the Folders or All Folders pane, click the CD-ROM drive.
- In the right pane, double-click the PSS folder.
- Double-click the Sysdll folder.
- Right-click the Oleaut32.dll file, and then click Copy.
- Quit Windows Explorer.
- Right-click on the Windows desktop, and then click Paste.
- Click Start, and then click Shut Down.
- Click Restart In MS-DOS Mode, and then click OK.
- Type the following lines at the command prompt, pressing ENTER after each line:
cd system
ren oleaut32.dll oleaut32.old
copy c:\windows\desktop\oleaut32.dll
exit
- When Windows restarts, click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type regsvr32 oleaut32.dll, and then click OK. You should receive the following message:
DllRegisterServer in oleaut32.dll succeded.
If you are using a Windows 95-based computer, and the steps above did not resolve the issue, remove and then reinstall Internet Explorer from the Greetings 99 or Home Publishing 99 Disc 1 CD-ROM. To reinstall Internet Explorer, double-click the following file on the program CD-ROM
<cd-rom>:\MHP\IE401SP1\Ie4setup.exe
where <cd-rom> is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive.

You may be able to resolve this issue by running the Internet Explorer 5 Repair Tool.
