The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
- Microsoft Word 2000
This article was previously published under Q226778 SYMPTOMS
If you insert an animated GIF file into Microsoft Word 2000, and then drag this animated GIF from Word into Microsoft PowerPoint 2000, the animated GIF will not animate when you view or publish it as a web page in PowerPoint. This behavior does not occur when you work between any other combination of Office applications.
CAUSE
When you import an animated GIF from Word into PowerPoint, it is converted into an embedded image, and all animated GIF information is lost.
WORKAROUND
Instead of using drag and drop technique to move the animated GIF into PowerPoint, use the copy and paste technique. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click the animated GIF file inside Word to highlight it.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- In PowerPoint, click Paste on the Edit menu.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
