This article was previously published under Q226773 SYMPTOMS After you edit a PowerPoint 2000 presentation that is
linked to an Excel worksheet or Word document, the following error message may
appear when you quit PowerPoint and return to Excel 2000 or Word 2000:
Microsoft [Excel | Word] is waiting for another
application to complete an OLE action. CAUSE This error occurs when Excel or Word requests the updated
slide image from PowerPoint. If PowerPoint was closed and it is still partially
in memory, the error message appears. This condition may also occur when system
resources are low. WORKAROUND To prevent this error from occurring, it is recommended
that you close the presentation but do not quit PowerPoint. With PowerPoint
still open, the error is less likely to occur. STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
