ERROR MESSAGE

When you click Finish after you run the PowerPoint Pack and Go Wizard, you may receive the following error message:
PowerPoint couldn't find pngsetup.ex_. You should run Setup and reinstall.
Even if you run Setup and reinstall Office 2000, the problem persists. NOTE: Microsoft Office 2000 has built-in functionality that allows you to get more information about difficult-to-troubleshoot alerts or error messages. If you want to enable this functionality for this and other error messages in Microsoft Office 2000, please download the Microsoft Office 2000 Customizable Alerts file from the Microsoft Office Update Web site at the following address: NOTE: If you reached this article by clicking the Web Info button in an error message, you already have Customizable Alerts enabled.

CAUSE

This occurs when you choose Run from CD for the Pack and Go Wizard. The wizard is designed to look for the pngsetup.ex_ file in the same directory as the Powerpnt.exe, and it does not make sure that the file has been set to run from the Office CD.

THINGS TO TRY

You will have to install the Pack and Go Wizard. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Close all programs that are open.
  2. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  4. In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, click the Microsoft Office 2000 installation, and then click Add/Remove.
  5. In the Microsoft Office 2000 Maintenance Mode dialog box, click Add of Remove Features.
  6. Click the plus sign (+) next to Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows.
  7. Click the Pack and Go Wizard icon.
  8. From the menu, click Run from My Computer.
  9. Click Update Now, and allow Office 2000 setup to install the components to your computer.
