PPT2000: Cannot Use 8.3 Filenames With Presentation Broadcasting (226721)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
This article was previously published under Q226721 SYMPTOMS
Even if you do not select the Use long file names whenever possible setting in the PowerPoint 2000 Web Options for a presentation broadcast, PowerPoint will ignore those settings and use the long file name for the presentation broadcast files.
CAUSE
The files that are created must use a long file name. Several global scripts are designed to look for a name in the "file name_slide0001.htm" format (where file name is the name of the presentation that the broadcast is coming from).
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
