PPT2000: Cannot Install the Publish to ASF Add-in From Office 97 (226660)

SUMMARY

When you try to install the Microsoft Publish to ActiveMovie Stream Format add-in from the Office 97 ValuPack into PowerPoint 2000, you receive the following error message:
Microsoft Publish to ActiveMovie Stream Format cannot find Microsoft PowerPoint on this computer. Setup cannot continue.
When you click OK, you receive the following message:
Microsoft Publish to ActiveMovie Stream Format Setup did NOT complete successfully.

The Microsoft Publish to ActiveMovie Stream Format add-in from the Office 97 ValuPack is not for use with Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 and cannot be installed.

However, you can install Windows Media Tools 4.1, which includes an updated version of of the Publish to ASF add-in that works with PowerPoint 2000. You can download Windows Media Tools 4.1 from the Microsoft Windows Media Web site. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmedia

NOTE: When you install Windows Media Tools 4.1 on a machine that has PowerPoint 2000 installed, you will receive the following warning.

The Windows Media Presenter Add-In for PowerPoint will not be installed as part of this setup. The functionality for this Add-In is integrated into the On-line Broadcast feature in PowerPoint on this computer.


The Windows Media Presenter Add-In is distinct from the Publish to ActiveMovie Add-In. Just click OK to this message, and then complete the installation for Windows Media Tools 4.1
