PPT2000: Animated GIF Does Not Move When Viewed in Web Browser (226649)

SYMPTOMS

When you save a presentation as a Web page, the animated GIFs do not appear animated when you view the presentation in your Web browser. The images do not move.

CAUSE

When you publish a Web site with a resolution of 640 x 480 or less, and save your presentation using the Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later option in the Publish as Web Page dialog box, PowerPoint converts each slide into a static image.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, when saving your presentation as a Web page, use either of the following methods:
  • In the Publish as Web Page dialog box, click Web Options and select a screen resolution of 800 x 600 or higher.

    -or-
  • In the Publish as Web Page dialog box, under Browser support, click Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later (high fidelity).
