PPT2000: Alternative Text Doesn't Display For Missing Image Files in Internet Explorer 4.0 (226633)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2000

This article was previously published under Q226633

SUMMARY

If you use the tools on the Drawing toolbar to create drawing objects, specify alternate text for them, save the presentation that contains the objects as a Web page, and then view the Web page in Internet Explorer 4.0, the alternate text for the objects will not display if the image files have been moved, deleted, renamed, or are not available.

MORE INFORMATION

To avoid this problem, view the Web page in Internet Explorer 5.0 or do not move, delete, or rename the image files. These files are usually saved with the extension .GIF in a folder one level below the folder where the Web page is saved.

To assign alternate text for an image or object, follow these steps:
  1. Select the shape you want to assign alternate text to.
  2. On the Format menu, click Autoshape.
  3. In the Format Autoshape dialog box, click the Web tab.
  4. Type in the alternate text that you want to assign to the Autoshape.
  5. Click OK.
