PPT2000: International Date Formatting Lost When Saving As PowerPoint 4.0 (226581)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
This article was previously published under Q226581 SYMPTOMS
If you create a PowerPoint presentation that automatically displays the current date in a foreign language, the date information may be translated into English if the presentation is saved in Microsoft PowerPoint 4.0 format.
CAUSE
PowerPoint uses a meta-character representation to automatically display the current date when a presentation is opened. This formatting is not supported by PowerPoint 4.0. During the conversion process, the meta-character is replaced with the current date in English.
WORKAROUND
The date information must be reformatted in PowerPoint 4.0, or if the date information is not set to update automatically, then this behavior will not occur. To set the date manually, follow these steps: - On the View menu, click Headers and Footers.
- In the Header and Footer window, click Fixed, and type the date.
- Click Apply to All.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000.
