This article was previously published under Q226550 SYMPTOMS A Web page is rendered accurately from the top of the page
to an arbitrary point midway down the page, and the remainder of the page is
blank. There is a problem receiving a Hypertext Transfer Protocol
(HTTP) stream from sites with Internet Explorer 5 when a delay occurs during a
query. In most cases, the page is only partially rendered. Viewing the source
code for the page reveals a partially formed HTML stream such as:

This is some te
Refreshing the page may result in a fully-formed page,
although subsequent refreshes may generate the same problem, cutting the HTML
stream at different locations. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, download and install the appropriate
file for your language and platform from the Microsoft Download Center.
NOTE: The "More Information" section explains the terms "X86",
"ALPHA," and "Platform." Also, this QFE replaces the Wininet.dll file
with version 5.00.2614.3400, so you can apply it to Internet Explorer 5
versions 5.00.2014.0216 and 5.00.2314.1003, but not to version 5.00.2614.3500
that may be included with your installation of Windows 98 Second Edition. If
the Wininet.dll file has a version number later than 5.00.2614.3400, you do not
need to apply this QFE. Which File to Download

MORE INFORMATION The terms "x86 platform" and "Alpha platform" are used to
describe the underlying hardware or software of a computer.
The x86
platform is a generic name for the series of microprocessor families that began
with the 80286 microprocessor. The x86 microprocessors include the 386DX/SX/SL
family, the 486DX/SX//DX2/SL/DX4 family, and the Pentium family including the
latest MMX microprocessor. For example, the x86 platform might be a 386DX
running Windows 95, an Intel Pentium processor running Windows 98 Second
Edition or an Intel Pentium II processor running Windows NT 4.0.
The
Alpha platform is a microprocessor as well as the name of a series of computers
made by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), which is now part of Compaq. The
Alpha platform is based on Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC)
architecture. For example, the Alpha platform might be a DEC Alpha workstation
running Windows NT 4.0 or a Sun Microsystems SPARCstation running UNIX.
