XL2000: Excel Object Browser Missing Asterisks That Denote Default Property (226365)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q226365 SYMPTOMS
When you display the Object Browser in the Visual Basic Editor from Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, or Microsoft Access, a certain member of each class displays with an asterisk (*) or with the default icon. When you display the Object Browser in the Visual Basic Editor from Microsoft Excel, the Microsoft Excel specific classes do not display any member with an asterisk or with the default icon.
CAUSE
Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Access denote the default member of a class with an asterisk or with the default icon. Microsoft Excel does not denote the default member of a class.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
When you display a class that is common among all the Microsoft Office programs in the Object Browser, the default member will be displayed with an asterisk, or with the default icon. The default icon is either the Default Method icon or the Default Property icon. These default icons are easily identified by the blue dot indicator to the left of the icon. You will see this asterisk or default icon indicator even when the Object Browser is called from Microsoft Excel. However, when you display a Microsoft Excel specific class, the default member is not denoted.
