Manta Handwriter 2.0 Handwriting Practice Does Not Work in Windows 2000 (226302)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional

This article was previously published under Q226302

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade from Microsoft Windows 95 to Windows 2000, the Manta Handwriter 2.0 graphics tablet, a hardware/software solution designed for mouse replacement and handwriting recognition, loses some functionality.

CAUSE

The Windows 95 drivers (Cicpens.vxd and Cicpens.drv) do not function in Windows 2000 and prevent the tablet from working. The only program bundled with the tablet that is dependent upon the driver's functioning is the Handwriting Practice program (Recotrai.exe). The program's software drivers are specifically written for Windows 95.
