No Sounds Are Heard After Installing Windows 2000 with a Sound Blaster AWE64 Gold (226251)

SYMPTOMS

After you install Windows 2000, you may no longer hear sounds from your Creative Labs Sound Blaster AWE64 Gold.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you use the Windows 2000 drivers for this audio card and your speakers are plugged into the S/PDIF port.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, please contact Creative Labs for the latest Windows 2000 drivers that include support for S/PDIF.

To work around this issue, plug your speakers into the speaker port on your sound card.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
